Sequilhos satisfy cookie cravings
Sequilhos are delicate, buttery, & easy to create.
These meltaway cookies are made with butter, cornstarch, & condensed milk.
A culinary school acquaintance from Brazil says these cookies are versatile.
Others are made using powdered sugar & butter. Many bakeries add shredded coconut or lemon juice & zest for flavor.
They're great with brigadeiros & Caipirinhas. First, measure cornstarch by weight, not volume, because cup measures are variable.
If you don't have a kitchen scale, you'll need 2 to 3 cups cornstarch to get the dough to the appropriate consistency before you can knead it.
So add cornstarch in batches! Second, chill dough for 20 minutes to 1 hour before baking. This ensures even baking.
